Supporting mentoring

The generosity of charitable trusts is key to enabling Villiers Park to accomplish its vision: a world in which everyone can realise their potential and lead society into an equitable, healthy future.

The Emma Campbell Trust has for five years helped charities supporting young people from disadvantaged backgrounds, including Villiers Park. During that time, it has given us almost £10,000 in support of our Shaping Your Future mentoring programme, for which we are hugely grateful.

The Trust was formed in memory of a woman whose life was tragically cut short just months before her 30th birthday. Emma Campbell was born with a congenital heart defect and showed great bravery and tenacity in the face of her life-threatening condition. The eponymous Trust was established in line with her drive and values: aim big and don’t let anything get in your way, despite life’s many challenges.

Emma’s cousin Will introduced his company, Cadence, to Villiers Park as part of our volunteering programme. They ended up doing supporting around 10 courses in total and donated over £2,000.

Small but mighty

To its immense credit, the Emma Campbell Trust has raised and gifted more than £50,000 since it was established - a significant achievement for a small voluntary organisation. Trustees decided to close the Trust at the end of January 2020; we were delighted and humbled to discover that we had been selected to receive a final legacy in support of the Scholars Programme: a donation of £4,500.

On behalf of everyone at Villiers Park, I want to thank them for their unwavering support to the end. We are of course sad that they’re winding up the Trust, but Emma’s legacy lives on in the young people who - without its support - may not have had the transformational opportunities they have had here.”
