Stressed? Learn how to manage it!

Published: 27 Apr 2018

Throughout April, the Learning Mentor team in Swindon have been delivering Stress Management workshops for all of the Year 11 Scholars ahead of their GCSE exams in May.

The Learning Mentor team, who are specialised in a variety of techniques that can be used to mitigate or manage stress, have taken the Stress Management workshop on the road and toured around the schools in Swindon that we work with. The workshops have featured four different stations, which have introduced our Scholars to different techniques aimed at mitigating or managing stress, with a particular focus on exam-related stress. Led by our individually trained mentors, the stations included Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Neuro-Linguistic Programming, Mindfulness and Practical Tips for Time Management and Well-being.

All of the Scholars, and the observing staff, left the workshop feeling relaxed from a period of meditation and equipped with a toolkit of stress-managing methods. The Stress-Management workshops have been a huge success and will help our Scholars as they navigate through exam season. We wish all of our Year 11 Scholars the best for their upcoming exams!

If you are trying to cope with exam stress, my top tips for exam stress busting are:

  1. Be organised: organise your time and study space.
  2. Put things in to perspective and try to be positive.
  3. Keep calm and… Breathe!
