Future Leaders turn their ideas into opportunities for others
Norwich Future Leaders bring creativity, connection and new opportunities to their school community.
Our Future Leaders in Norwich put their ideas into action through a fantastic range of Leadership Challenge projects, creating opportunities for their fellow students to learn, get creative and connect with one another.
At the heart of the Leadership Challenge is the opportunity for young people to identify something they care about and turn their ideas into meaningful action. This was demonstrated brilliantly by several groups of Future Leaders who used their own interests to create activities for their peers.
Inspiring creativity through graphic design
Year 10 Future Leaders Hoi and Jasmine, joined by their friend, organised a lunchtime graphic design club for fellow students.
Participants were challenged to create their own graphic design project based on something they were interested in, giving them the freedom to explore their creativity and develop their design skills. At the end of the session, the group selected a winning project based on 'Sea of Thieves', with the successful student receiving a prize.
The club gave students the chance to express their interests creatively, while the Future Leaders developed their confidence in organising and running an activity for their peers.
Encouraging a love of reading
Year 12 Future Leaders Asefeh, Zoha and Zahra also used their lunchtime to create an opportunity for younger students to discover the joy of reading.
The trio ran a Year 7 Book Club, which included creative bookmark making and a short story writing competition, with a box of chocolates awarded to the winner. They also collected a selection of books from local charity shops, which they were then able to offer to students who took part in the club for free. This helped make reading more accessible while encouraging Year 7 students to explore new stories and authors.
The project demonstrated how a simple idea can have a lasting impact, combining creativity, generosity and a passion for supporting younger students.
A wide range of Leadership Challenges
Alongside the graphic design club and Book Club, Future Leaders developed a diverse range of projects designed to make a positive contribution to their school community.
These included a volleyball tournament, an after-school production of 'A Midsummer Night’s Dream', a social media awareness project, a road awareness poster, a maths revision club and a lunchtime social club. Other projects explored topical issues, including an Anti-AI Week and an ICE deportation class, encouraging students to engage with important and sometimes challenging subjects.
Together, these projects showcased the creativity, initiative and commitment of our Future Leaders. From creating spaces for students to socialise and learn, to raising awareness of important issues, they demonstrated the many ways young people can use their skills and interests to make a difference within their school communities.
The Leadership Challenge gives Future Leaders the opportunity to take an idea from concept to reality — developing valuable skills along the way while creating something that benefits others.
