Discovering Opportunities at King’s College London

Future Leaders gain insight into university life at King's College London visit.

Students from Hastings and Bexhill experienced a day of discovery and inspiration during a recent University Insight Day at King’s College London’s Strand Campus. The visit welcomed 24 Year 12 Future Leaders, offering them a first-hand look at higher education in one of the UK’s leading universities.

The day began with an introduction to King’s College London, where students were introduced to the university’s campuses and a wide range of courses. A highlight of the visit was an interactive session exploring artificial intelligence, focusing on the topic of deepfakes. Students engaged in discussion around the opportunities and ethical challenges of emerging technologies, gaining valuable experience of the critical thinking and debate often encouraged in university seminars.

Following the session, students took part in a guided campus tour, visiting key facilities including the Engineering Department and the historic Maughan Library. The tour also showcased a variety of study and social spaces, giving students a sense of the academic and student experience, as well as offering views across London’s iconic landmarks.

The day concluded with a quiz designed to challenge common misconceptions about university life, particularly those linked to studying in London. This activity encouraged students to reflect on perceived barriers to higher education and left them with a clearer, more informed understanding of their future options.

Feedback from young people highlighted the impact of the visit, with students expressing increased confidence and motivation. Many shared that the experience helped them feel that university is more accessible and inspired them to consider applying to prestigious institutions such as King’s College London.

Feedback included:

  • "I never realised just how accessible uni is."

  • "I feel more sure on wanting to pursue my studies and enrol in universities."

  • "I initially didn't have faith in myself to apply to a prestigious university such as King's but now I have more faith and yearn to do so."

  • "I found the day really helpful and useful for helping me consider where I want to go university."

Thank you to everyone involved in the planning and delivery at King's College London. These opportunities are invaluable for our Future Leaders to explore what options are available to them.
